  • Thai PBS is reporting that 25 French tourists plus one Thai guide have been injured after a tour bus overturned on a secondary road in Mae Lao district of Chiang Rai province yesterday (Tuesday). The road conditions were reported to be 'poor' at the time.   • More than a square kilometer of Latvia is engulfed in flames as a fire is raging at the Valdgale parish in Talsi Municipality, the Fire and Rescue Service told the press July 18.   • A wildfire southeast of The Dalles has burned thousands of acres and forced evacuations. The fire, called the Substation Fire, is between Highway 197 and Eightmile Road. It has burned about 29,000 acres, officials with the US Forest Service said on Wednesday morning. The Conflagration Act was been invoked, according to the USFS. The act, set in place by the governor, allows the state fire marshal to mobilize firefighters and equipment from around the state.   • Officials in Galveston have reported their first human case of West Nile Virus for 2018. The woman, who has fully recovered from the mosquito-borne illness, lives on Galveston Island and made officials aware when they began mosquito abatement efforts. Officials made this case public this week. This is the second human case of West Nile Virus reported in the Greater Houston area this week. On Tuesday, officials in Montgomery County confirmed that a man in his 40s had been treated for West Nile Virus, and was recovering.
